Piazza Malatesta
Piazza Malatesta represented the final piece of an extensive redevelopment project for Rimini’s historic center, included by MiBAC among the major national projects dedicated to cultural heritage. The area serves as the connection point between Castel Sismondo and the Fulgor Cinema Palace, the focal point of the “Fellini Project,” aimed at transforming this urban district into a leading cultural hub.
Within this context of high architectural and symbolic value, HiSkin oversaw the installation of the square’s pavement using Mosaico Drenante, covering a total surface area of 2,200 sq m, contributing to the definition of its new formal and material configuration.
The choice of system was driven by the need to combine aesthetic integration with technical performance: a surface capable of harmonizing with the surrounding historic architecture while ensuring safety, durability, and long-term reliability—essential elements for a public space intended for daily use and cultural events.
The pavement design develops through concentric rings converging toward the center of the square, creating a pattern that establishes a relationship between the various architectural structures facing the urban space. The rings were crafted by our specialized technicians following a chromatic and granulometric study developed through dedicated sampling.
The project has thus redefined Piazza Malatesta as an identity-defining and contemporary place, capable of combining cultural memory, urban design, and collective use.

“The decision to use Mosaico Drenante in the renovation of Piazza Malatesta in 2021 proved to be a sound choice.
The pavement has maintained its technical and aesthetic characteristics, confirming itself as a reliable and long-lasting solution applied in a historic square with very high foot traffic.
Today the Municipality of Rimini can rely on a work fully integrated into the city: the customized aggregate blend fits harmoniously into the historic context while simultaneously meeting the safety and functionality needs of citizens.
The project met the client’s expectations.
From this initial project, a fruitful and ongoing collaboration with HiSkin was established, which has led us to work together on projects of greater scale and complexity, such as the Parco del Mare project in Rimini.”
