Mosaico Drenante for the 700th anniversary of the death of the great poet Dante.
Ravenna is the largest city in Romagna, with a territorial extension second only to the Municipality of Rome. The city of Ravenna has civil and religious architecture of absolute importance, more than 30 buildings including churches and basilicas.
Among the elements of religious architecture one of the best known and most visited sites is the Tomb of Dante, adjacent to the convent of San Francesco, built in 1781 by Camillo Morigia with the shape of a small temple, it houses the remains of the Divine Poet enclosed in a sarcophagus of the Roman times, enriched from 1483 by a bas-relief made from Pietro Lombardo with the figure of the poet seen in profiles, illuminated by a lamp that burns perpetually. The zone of respect and silence has been established around the temple and called Zona Dantesca.
For the celebration of the 700th anniversary of Dante‘s death, the temple was the subject of an important conservative intervention that also involved the Zona Dantesca, the latter involved in the restoration of the sarcophagi and the construction of the new HiSkin flooring system composed from the bottom in SureCell and from the surface layer in Mosaico Drenante Millefiori color to obtain an aesthetic suited to the context and to make the area easily accessible in complete safety with all weather conditions.
Probably Mosaico Drenante will last for 700 years, but we are sure that for the next few decades it will remain unchanged and will not present any problems, in fact Mosaico Drenante is the only outdoor paving guaranteed for 21 years from the date of installation.
